Over the years, this class has given me amazing friends. This year wasn't an exception. Ian Mason, Chief Meteorologist here at Ladue, became one of my most treasured friends. He is a senior so I sadly had to say goodbye to him last week. His heart is as big as Mount Everest and I respect him and his passion for weather greatly. On most white days, Ian would ask me to help him film his weather newscasts. I would willingly tag along and do the prompter, sound, and cueing for him. I thouroughly enjoyed working with him and having deep talks alone in the studio. He is truly missed ( sounds like he's dead but he's just a grad).
We lost our original studio to the construction this year and have been shoved into a closet for recording announcements. Since our class is small, people had designated jobs. I took the job as the director. Reis kind of left it for me anyway. I really liked being director, I always looked up to Lillian Donahue my freshman year. I am so sad that I won't be here to see the offical new one fall of 2018. See you on the flip side, Jen Trau

So for this project, I came up with the idea of high school feeling like it is never-ending, and translating that to someone running through the halls. I was inspired by Final Exit by BlackBoxTv. I really like Final Exit because it had a really good twist at the end. I like something that keeps you guessing.
I really wanted to come on the weekend and film when the lights were off. But sport tournaments made that difficult. Aman and I attempted to put on affects to make it look darker and creepier. I think it looks okay but the best lighting effects are usually in person. Overall, I love the concept of the video but the execution is a little not what I wanted. See you on the flip side, Jen Trau My first news package for this semester was about scheduling classes next year. I got b-roll in the PAC and interviewed two students on what they thought about their schedule. Both students had an iffy look on next year.
I wanted to get two different point of views but I should have expanded and maybe interviewed a freshman and a junior, not just two juniors. I also wish I got a little bit more b-roll but the PAC is only set up temporarily (should have done better planning). My goal for the future is to have packages that have a little bit more 'meat'. Overall, I want to cover more prominent things. See you on the flip side, Jen Trau Here's the latest for December 2016 in Ladue: Ladue's new pizza place, Cocoa and Cram, Finals, and quiet hallways.
Here we are, at the end of another semester at LHSWHS. I have to say I am quite excited to be one step closer to college. This semester's final was a news minute package. It was probably my favorite project thus far because it was easy and fun to make the stories.
My stories worked out except for one because I didn't get shots of teachers for teacher spirit week. Other than that, I am pretty proud of the outcome and I'm glad that I finished before the bell rang. This project and class was a great way to end the semester :) See you on the flip side, Jen Trau For my fourth project, Mary and I went after school to the ping pong club and got some footage. The ping pong is a fairly new club and the members were really nice. We interviewed the two captains and it was interesting ebcause they just started the club really to just start it. They enjoyed ping pong but they weren't professionsals.
Overall, the ping pong club was a fun story and a simple news package. Mary was also a really great helper so that made this project a solid one. See you on the flip side! Jen Trau Emily, Ian and I made a music video for a local music artist. The assignment was to make a 30 second video that showed the concept of the real video for the entire song. I really liked this assignment because it was creative and easy to think of ideas for.
At the beginning of brainstorming, Emily and I made a detailed storyboard. It was well thought out and we had a solid plan. Well, like usual, when filming day finally came, the plan crashed and burned and we had to pull some tricks from our sleeves and produced a video. We filmed in downtown Clayton which is one of my favorite places in St. Louis so it made this video all the more enjoyable. Emily and Ian are good friends and they're great to work with. I believe that this video is the beginning of a really fun broadcast team (I miss Reis and Marissa terribly) that will share many adventures in the future. See you on the flip side, Jen Trau Although the clown is a risky costume to do this year, I attempted to put my makeup skills to the test. I don't have skills so it was an adventure. I think it turned out pretty well, considering my artistic talent.
I liked Emily's voiceover, it was well worded. I edited it and I was content with the final product because it was short video and it covered our point. We could have done a little something more fun with it, perhaps more costumes or a full clown costume. This video is fun and I am proud of the outcome, I am just wanting to do something a little bit bigger with the power of media. See you on the flip side, Jen Trau This weekend is Ladue's homecoming. What a great event. Haha lame yet somewhat important since it's an occasion only in high school. The girls show their dresses and heels, boys show how they can be unique; more than just a button down and khakis.
This Emily was made by Emily and I. We have created a new series of videos that make up "The JenEm Show". In this video, Emily was the star and showed the viewers correct makeup, shoes, and boys who ask you. Another goofy video that was just for a smile and mocked the status quo. The things I liked about the video were the ideas and I was personally very proud of the sign I made for when Ian asked Emily. It was a cheesy line ;D. The only thing I would change would probably be the setting and the titles. I want it to be a little more interesting than just text on color. I also wish we had a cooler place than a school hallway to film, but for this video maybe it's okay because homecoming does take place in schools. I also wish we posted it early but Ladue isn't the only school that has a homecoming. Overall, I was content with the finished product. See you on the flip side, Jen Trau |
