Last week, I went to the Schnucks and Dierbergs in Des Peres. I regularly go to both and I think I favor Schnucks, but Dierbergs when I am in a pinch. They are fairly new, Schnucks was built in 2009 and Dierbergs was built in 2012. They are greater in size compared to the scattered Schnucks and Dierbergs in St. Louis/ Schnucks is known to be friendlier, more familiar and have cheaper prices. While Dierbergs on the other hand, has a underground garage for parking that is useful when it rains and an escalator that allows you to go to the lower parking garage with your cart, which just gets cool points.
I interviewed one male and one female outside of both. It was interesting because both women had longer answers, with more detail and reason for choosing Schnucks rather than Dierbergs and vice versa. The men, who stereotypically don't shop, liked the specific grocery due to a short, simple and logical answer. I love both grocery stores, and I feel incredibly lucky to live by both of them (the grocery store happens to be my favorite location for an errand). I will admit, an interviewee that was so enthusiastic about Dierbergs, persuaded me to maybe choose to go to Dierbergs a little bit more....Schnucks will always be my number one though. See you on the flip side! Jen Trau
